Text Box: The school gave Mrs Kurring an emotional send off when she retired on 7th December.
The children led a special assembly in school on the Thursday afternoon to present their gifts of garden vouchers, basket of flowers and cards to Mrs Kurring. All of the children had taken part in making a DVD called ‘Farewell Mrs Kurring’. Some classes had written poems, painted pictures, others performed songs or dances. The film was shown for the first time on the big screen in the hall, Mrs Kurring was well supplied with tissues! Even some of the children had tears in their eyes.
Mrs Kurring has worked at the school for 25 years, starting as a part-time secretary back in the days when Wes Magee was the head teacher. School life has changed considerably over this time and Mrs Kurring was always ready to take on the next challenge. She has kept the school administration systems running like clockwork in her efficient and reliable style.
Text Box: As well as managing the administration in school Mrs Kurring enabled the school to set up it’s own school meals service and uniform shop. She has also been a member of the governing body for many years and an active member of FOBs. I am delighted that she will continue to support the school as a community governor.

Text Box: Healthy Schools Award
Text Box: Congratulations to everyone in the school community for working hard to achieve the Healthy Schools Award for the second time. The children throughout the school have a good understanding of what they need to do to keep their bodies fit and healthy.
The School Meals at Brough has recently been inspected and received a glowing report, many thanks to Mrs Eglen and Mrs Smith. Please encourage your children to stay for a healthy school meal and support the school in delivering this service. Otherwise, please ensure that the packed lunch is also healthy. We are concerned about the content of some lunch boxes.
Please remind the children to bring their water bottles to school each day.
Text Box: The ‘Brough Babes’ achieved a place in the Humberside Lifestyle Awards final for the third consecutive year. This year they won the top prize and will be going to Florida in the Summer. Congratulations on the hard work and determination to achieve success. Well done to Carrie Burrow who is now old enough to officially join the team.
Brough School also had two teams who won PGL Adventure holidays in Wales, they are ‘The Fighting Four’ (Oliver Henderson, Georgina Hillerby, Nathan Lyons & Samantha Steele) and ‘The Brough Gadgets’ (Alex Almond, Ben Briggs, Matthew Britchford and James Roos).
I am very proud of all of the children who Text Box: Brough School News
