Dear Parent/Carer
As part of our ‘Water Topic’, Years 3 and 4 will be looking at water supplies in developing countries.
We have recently had a representative from the local Rotary Club to explain the Aqua box Schemes.
Aqua boxes are a way of providing families with a temporary supply of safe drinking water. Each Aqua box can supply a family of four with pure water for 3 months. Inside each box, essential supplies for these countries can also be provided, thus not only allowing families access to essential items, but also a way of providing them with some clean water.
The Aid Agency and Rotary Club have suggested that the following items will be of particular use:-
· strong plastic buckets
· toothbrushes and toothpaste
· tablets of soap
· hand wash washing powder
· packs of cotton wool
· kitchen rolls
· vests, baby grows, towelling nappies, nappy pins, plastic pants, feeding bottle or cup, safety pins – (all suitable for babies)
· large cooking pan
· unbreakable bowls and cup
· metal spoons, forks and knives
· kitchen quality scissors
· can opener

· children’s’ small balls or fluffy toys
· needle and strong cotton
· strong torch and batteries
· candles and safety matches
· teenagers toys
· pencils and paper
· insulation tape
· ball of string
· hammer and some nails
· pliers
· strong folding knife
· 15mm diameter rope
· 2mm garden wire
· screwdriver and screws
· hand trowel and small shovel
· lightweight waterproofs
All of these items will make up 1 Aqua box. In the cases of toys, clothing and utensils the items do not have to be new. We hope you are able to assist us in supporting the Aqua box Scheme and helping those less fortunate than us. If you are, please could you go to the entrance near the School Office and sign up next to the item(s) you are able to provide.
If you would like to find out any more details about this scheme, please contact the School or alternatively, have a look at the website:-
Thank you.
Yours sincerely
