Year 4 along with their teachers and several volunteers spent an exciting time sleeping with the sharks. They were visiting The Deep in Hull. The children were staying overnight so they had sleeping bags and teds with them, they were all very excited.

First order of the day was a guided tour around the facility. The size and colours of the fish were amazing. The next event was an interesting talk on The Deep and the creatures kept there. It was amazing to hear how the sharks were sometimes fed by hand by divers actually in the tanks with them!

After the talk the children had to design their own t shirt and badge. This was great fun and thoroughly enjoyed by all.

Following a quick snack, wash and teeth brush the children excitedly got into their sleeping bags. The bravest had chosen a sleeping pitch right up against the fish tanks. It was incredible seeing them laid there with giant sharks swimming past just above their heads. Some of the children got off to sleep quickly after such an eventful day. Others tossed and turned being too excited to sleep. The last one eventually dozed off at about 1:30 am. The first one awoke, thought it was morning, and got dressed at about 5am! The teachers were not amused.

Breakfast was another exciting event with a spooky view over a misty River Humber.

Eventually the last sleeping bag was loaded aboard the coach. The last lost ted was rescued and returned to its owner and the coach set off for school.

A great time had by all and an exciting memory of the night year 4 slept with the sharks.
